Superintendent's Message

Since being hired in May of 2008 as Superintendent of the Wellington Schools, I have been impressed with the many unique characteristics found in this wonderful community.  I have been amazed at the amount of community pride and support for our schools, which is not commonly found elsewhere.  This community is a hidden gem nestled in North Central Ohio.  An example of the unique offerings found in this district is the Wellington Schools Endowment Fund.

For the past 25 years, the Wellington Exempted Village Schools have been blessed with the continued support from the Endowment.  Throughout those 25 years, the Endowment has provided our teachers with the opportunities to expand their classrooms with resources otherwise not available.  The Endowment has contributed approximately $400,000.00 over that period of time in classroom grants alone.

The Endowment has made a commitment not only to our teachers, but to our children, as well as their parents, by expanding their offerings.  The Endowment gives out yearly scholarships to our students to pursue higher education.  While scholarships directly benefit our students, the Endowment also provides parents with a wonderful program to offset rising costs of college tuition in the form of the "Saving For College" program.

The Endowment program is by far one of, if not the best, support system for schools that I have seen in my years of education and my travels throughout the State.  Our Board of Education and I fully appreciate the importance of what the Endowment does for our students, teachers, and parents and urge everyone to support their efforts.

We must always remember that it takes an entire village to raise a child and the Wellington Exempted Village Schools thanks the Endowment for their help.

Sincerely,

Francis R. Scruci
